A vintage Coke ad, Stephen Crane, our dog, life, gratitude, the Mediterranean Diet, and a greens class, all in one newsletter.
Hello, gorgeous. You’re looking fine.
Your body is quite the thing in terms of elegant design. So take a minute to appreciate it, to thank it for all you put it through. Or else your body is going to complain. So says the girl who just weathered an icky cold.
I got lucky. I managed to time it right for a quick getaway to a bare-bones place in the Keys that’s been our refuge. My husband Benjamin enjoyed a weekend off after tax season, I got a chance to heal, and our dog Potcake got to have a rematch with the Atlantic. The score stands Atlantic 2, Potcake 0. The ocean, like life, is big, mysterious, and sometimes frustrating. All our dog can think to do is bark at it.
I can relate. I would like to believe the universe has our backs. Sometimes. though, I’m more in Stephen Crane’s camp.
We don’t know if the universe is looking out for us. Barking doesn’t help (I’ve tried it). So we need to look out for ourselves and each other. Press pause. Then take a breath. In that stillness, that pause, that instant of quiet, everything is possible. Let it nourish you.
The answer isn’t a pill or a product. We haven’t developed anything that beats fresh produce, beans, whole grains, you know, whole food, real food. Like ahem, what I’ll be teaching you to make May 12, in my free, virtual Green Greatness class thanks to Miami-Dade Public Library.
Speaking of thanks, remember gratitude. It’ll lift your heart and up your energy without a Red Bull. Start with something real, small, and specific. For me, I’m grateful it’s getting on to Miami’s mango season, the tropical fruit as sexy, juicy, vibrant and messy as life itself.
Last, but not least, I’m grateful to you. Thanks for sticking with me. Changes are coming, but I’ll always keep my newsletter free for you.
Big, mysterious, frustrating, sexy, juicy, vibrant, messy — life is all that. Keep well, everyone. Stop, breathe, nourish. Thank you.
