December 2021
Ready for the holiday? I am. I’m behind on gifting, but feeling the heart-lifting holiday spirit. For a nanosecond there, I was even thinking Benjamin and I would have a big holiday party like we used to have pre-Covid (you made the A guest list, darling). And then came the guest none of us wanted — Omnicron.
Taking all available precautions, Benjamin and I got the booster. The next day,
a sparkling Miami morning, we took a nice long walk by Biscayne Bay, the
water a perfectly tropical teal. We saw pelicans, cormorants, egrets, and a manatee.
I was planning to shoot a new video in the afternoon, but on the drive back, I
got . . . so . . . sleepy. By the time we got home, we were both feeling tired, and I was feverish. Booster reaction.
The video didn't happen, and I slept through much of the day, our dog Potcake standing guard over me while I lay crashed out on the couch.
I’m still glad I got the booster. I’m excited about several in-person presentations coming up, and I’m eager to be with people for real again. We can’t stop living, can we? But we can do it with some smarts.
We have such magnificent bodies, and we take them for granted until something mows us down. If we’re lucky, our suffering is mild and short-lived, then we surface strong again. Please do all you can to stay well and protected.
