April ushers in a time of rebirth, a time bright with hope. And yet, dear ones, what with the news these days, I’m not always feeling it. Albert Camus, not the cheeriest guy, said, “Where there is no hope, one must invent hope.”
Hope is the energy that helps drive us forward. So I take a few deep breaths, maybe drink a cup of tea, call a friend, or harvest some of the beautiful, zesty spring greens in my garden. It's National Garden Month, after all. And I think of you and remember all over again how lucky I am. Thanks for sticking with me.
What gives you hope? Maybe David Byrne can help.
Thank you all for participating n my virtual cooking classes through Miami-Dade Public Library You’re such a smart, engaged group, and I’m loving the feedback, especially when you tell me you’ve made the recipes and give them a thumbs-up.
Big thanks to those who’ve asked about a virtual wellness retreat. It’s simmering even now. I can promise lots of laughter, great vegan meals, centering techniques and nourishment for your soul. What takeaway are you looking for? What would you like to accomplish?
And while I’m asking questions, how would you feel about a paid subscription to Broccoli Rising? I’ll always keep my monthly newsletter free to all, but a $5 a month subscription — the minimum through Substack — will let me reward you with more — exclusive recipes, videos and cooking classes. Would you go for it?
I’d love to hear from you. Email me at ellen@soulfulvegan.com, and stay tuned for the Big Reveal.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please follow me on Twitter and Instagram, buy a copy of Feeding the Hungry Ghost Feeding the Hungry Ghost: Life, Faith, and What to Eat for Dinner, and put out good vibes for the cookbook I’m shopping now. If you’re a literary agent, hi, there, very pleased to meet you.
